Bhutan was great! It had a lot of farm houses where we were staying and all the people were nice. They all had new decorations on their houses because we were there for the special time of year when they had the changing of the decorations. Also, when we were there they had snow way up [...] Today, I went to a shop in Bhutan (a little country near Nepal) to buy arrows with our guide S.P. We were buying the traditional arrow where you bought the arrow and the arrow head and then a cookie of wax and then you heat up the wax and then glue on the arrow head. [...] Pemma was great. She was funny and kind and sweet. We ran around the farm and played in the thing full of hay right above the chickens. A lot of the times we would play hide-and-go-seek and that is where we hid some of the time. Pemma is a traditional Bhutanese girl who lives at the [...] Today I arrived in Nepal to drive to the hotel to meet Mimi. Mimi is my very awesome Grandma. She came to Nepal a week early just so we could meet up with her. She isn’t just a Grandma she is an explorer, trekker, outgoing, non-stopping, Grandma. She came a week early I said because she [...] The recent release of Slumdog Millionaire brought new attentions to the Dharavi slum that it has never seen before. A “neighborhood” of Mumbai that had remained under the world’s radar for decades was suddenly the focus of documentaries, tourism, and media. The initial shock of the slum’s inhabitants at the sudden fame and tourism quickly [...] The Lalibela orphanage in Ethiopia is a really nice orphanage. It has about 10 kids and 2 babies. First I want to talk about the 2 babies…. They are so cute and so beautiful. One of them is named Hilary who is the first one I played with. Then the next day I played with [...] Rothschild Giraffe. Scientific name: Giraffa camelopardalis rothschildi. Family: Giraffidae. Kingdom: Animalia. With a height of 4-5.5 meters, the giraffe is the tallest animal in the world. Their 27-inch long tongue is used to grab leaves off the branches of trees and berries of their bush. In all of Africa, there are approximately nine species of [...] Giraffe Manor. A simple but yet odd name. But…for this place it was definitely not odd. The reason for this name is because of the giraffes. Some of the time, but mostly in the morning, they will come up to the window, door, or porch, and then you can feed them. You can do all [...] We were driving up to this school in Lake Naivasha, Kenya, and the kids all came running towards us like a stampede of animals. So when we got out of the jeep, we started running and running while they chased us! Then, when we finally stopped, they started grabbing at our shirts and pulling us [...] Being that writing is not the only way to express one’s feelings in a blog, Becca decided to put together a slideshow to tell her story.
